The Nintendo 2DS Releases With Pokemon X and Y

nintendo-2ds-frontToday Nintendo announced the 2DS will be joining the 3DS product line on October 12th. The 2DS aims to be an affordable version of the 3DS that retails for $130, which is forty dollars cheaper than the original. Presumably, the cost has been lowered because the new unit lacks the clam shell design and 3D capability. All 3DS games can be played normally on the 2DS, just without 3D mode enabled.

Pokemon Retrospective Video Ends In Mystery

possible-pokemon-wii-u-gameThe Pokemon Game Show event is featuring demos of Pokemon X and Y as well as a retrospective video of the Pokemon franchise. The video ends with what appears to be a battle scene with Blaziken and Lucario, both of which have Mega evolutions. Interestingly, the graphics appear far too advanced for the 3DS, looking more like Wii U visuals. Although nothing has been confirmed by Nintendo, this could be the beginning of a Pokemon Battle Revolution or Colosseum-style game for the Wii U. Watch the whole video in the full story.

Dedenne, Skiddo, and Bunnelby

dedenneOn the tails of the Mega Pokemon announcement, three new cuddly Pokemon were introduced. Dedenne, Skiddo, and Bunnelby are all new additions to the sixth generation of Pokemon.

Dedenne is the Antenna Pokemon that looks like a pudgy little Raichu. It has the Cheek Pouch Ability, which makes eating any berry give health on top of its normal effect. It can learn the brand new move Nuzzle, which deals damage and paralyzes the target. Skiddo is the first stage of Gogoat. Bunnelby is Normal type and has very strong ears used to dig tunnels.

Mega Pokemon Evolve Through Mega Stones

mega-blaziken-auraThe official Pokemon X and Y website announced the evolution process for Mega Pokemon today. There isn’t a single Mega Stone used to evolve, but instead a stone exists for each Pokemon with a Mega evolution. The names of these stone is typically the name of the Pokemon evolving followed by “ite”.

The stone used to evolve Blaziken into Mega Blaziken is called Blazikenite. Lucario’s version is named Lucarionite. Mega Pokemon evolve during battle when holding the stone and revert back to their normal state once the battle ends. Other things may have to happen during the battle in order for the stone to work.

Mega Pokemon Evolutions

mega-pokemon-evolutionsJapanese magazine CoroCoro has leaked with brand new Pokemon X and Y information. Some existing Pokemon will have new “Mega” evolutions. The Awakened Form Mewtwo is actually a Mega Pokemon. Ampharos, Blaziken, Absol, Lucario, and Mawile also get Mega evolutions. Mega Pokemon can have new types and abilities. MegaAmpharos is Electric/Dragon and MegaMawile is Steel/Fairy type. Regular Mawile is also part Fairy type now. MegaAmpharos has the Mold Breaker Ability, Blaziken has Speed Boost, MegaMawile has Huge Power, MegaLucario has Adaptability, MegaAbsol has Magic Bounce, and MegaMewtwo has Insomnia.

Orotto – The New Tree Pokemon

orotto-tree-pokemonThe latest trailer on the Japanese Pokemon YouTube account has leaked some Pokemon X and Y information. It showcases a wide variety of new battle scenes, including battles underwater, at a beach, and a dark forest. A new Pokemon, named Orotto in Japanese, appears in a horde battle in the forest. It’s a tree-like Pokemon with roots that act like  legs. Its typing hasn’t been revealed, but it may be Grass/Dark. You can watch the trailer in the full story.
